¶ Veeam Backup and Replication
Open the Veeam Backup and Replication console and open the Backup Repository section.
¶ Konfiguration
Then click on Create repository.
Click on Object Storage.
Now select S3 Compatible.
Enter a name for the repository.
- Enter “a1.storagecenter.ch”
- For region: ch-north1
- then click Add to enter the Access_Key and Secret_Key.
- Enter the Access_Key which you can find in the customer portal (S3Users).
- Enter the Secret_Key which you can find in the customer portal (S3Users).
- Click on OK
- Click on Browse and select a Bcuket from your account
- (Optional) Create a subfolder for the repository
- Click on Next.
Click Next, then Apply and Finish
You have now created a Veeam repository on our data storage. You can now use the storage center repository for all backup and replication jobs.
¶ Performance settings
To ensure a reliable and high-performance backup to an S3 storage, the following should be configured in the Windows registry on the Veeam Backup Server.
Caution! Caution is advised when using the registry editor. Improper changes to the registry can lead to significant problems, including system instability, application errors or even Windows not starting.
Activation of “Extra Large Blocks ”

open the registry editor (regedit) and navigate to “Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication” in the Windows registry.

create a DWORD 32-bit value called “UIShowLegacyBlockSize” and set the value to “1”
MultiObject Delete Limit

open the registry editor (regedit) and navigate to “Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication” in the Windows registry.

change the DWORD 32-bit value named “S3MultiObjectDeleteLimit ‘ and set the value to ’125”
S3 Repository Task Limit
- open the registry editor (regedit) and navigate to “Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication” in the Windows registry.
- create a DWORD 32-bit value called “S3ConcurrentTaskLimit” and set the value to “1”
