¶ Duplicati
Duplicati is a free backup software available for Windows, Mac and Linux.
¶ Installation Windows
Duplicati can be downloaded from the following URL https://duplicati.com/download.
After downloading, please double-click the installation file.
If this message from Windows Defender appears, please click on “More inf”.
Now you can install the application by selecting “Run anyway”.
Click on Next.
Accept the license agreement and then click Next.
Click on Next.
Click on Install.
Click on “Finish”.
¶ Set up backup
Click on “Add a new backup”. Then click on Next.
Enter a name for the backup job and twice a password for the encryption of the backup. Then click Next.
Please make a note of the password. This password will be required later to access the backed up data.
- Select S3 Compatible.
- Check the box for the SSL connection.
- Select Custom Server URL.
- Enter a1.storagecenter.ch.
- Enter the bucket on which you want to create the backup. Further information can be found under Buckets.
- (Optional) Select a subfolder.
- Enter the Access_Key which you can find in the customer portal (S3Users).
- Enter the Secret_Key which you can find in the customer portal (S3Users).
- Click on Test Connection.
If this message appears. Click on No.
If the setup was successful, you will receive a success message.
- Select the folder you want to have backed up.
- Or select the entire hard disk or partition.
- Then click on Next.
Here you can define the time when a backup should be executed.
Here you can define the retention time of your backup. In this example, the backup that is older than one year is deleted. Then click on Save.
Here again the warning that you must save the password for the encryption.
You can also start the backup manually.
¶ Restore
A backup is worth nothing if the data cannot be restored. Your data is safe on our data storage and is protected against corruption.
- Select S3 Compatible.
- Check the box for the SSL connection.
- Select Custom Server URL.
- Enter a1.storagecenter.ch.
- Enter the bucket on which you want to create the backup. Further information can be found under Buckets.
- (Optional) Select a subfolder.
- Enter the Access_Key which you can find in the customer portal (S3Users).
- Enter the Secret_Key which you can find in the customer portal (S3Users).
- Click on Test Connection.
If this message appears. Click on No.
If the setup was successful, you will receive a success message.
Enter the password that you selected when setting up the backup.
- Select the time of your backup.
- (Optional) Search for files and folders.
- Select the files or folders you want to restore.
- Confirm with Continue.
- Here you can specify the folder to which you want to restore.
- If you want to overwrite the files or add a timestamp.
- Would you like to restore the file permissions.
- Click on Restore.
